Destiny Project FAQ
Dear Westside Church-family,
These are challenging and dynamic times. With national and global upheavals in politics, economics and “ethics,” we are reminded that God’s eternal and loving destiny is the one thing that we can truly count on.
Yet this has also been a season where we have seen God at work powerfully. We have grown together as we have shared the good news of Jesus Christ. We have shown our passion to minister to the poor and the orphaned. We have fortified our children’s and student ministries to focus on equipping our kids to follow Jesus. And our focus on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ has never been clearer. All our efforts together are truly transforming lives!
With God’s help, Westside’s impact as a church will be further unleashed through an exciting new Destiny Project.
The Destiny Project is a one-year initiative designed to support missions efforts to reach families right here in our community, build orphanages in our three partner countries, prepare to make more room for our kids and intentionally reduce our debt.
We are so grateful for your faithful support to your church-family, and are fully committed as your leadership team. We encourage you to join us in supporting the Destiny Project to reach local families, care for orphans, equip our children and pursue our destiny together.
Please prayerfully consider how God would use your time, talent, and treasure to support this great opportunity to transform lives for Jesus!
Dan Southerland, Dan Chaverin,
and your Westside Leadership Team
What is the Destiny Project?
The Destiny Project is a new one-year initiative that will fund Westside’s local and global missions efforts. These include supporting existing ministry facilities costs, building four children’s homes in Thailand, South Africa, and India, optimizing and preparing for children’s space expansion and reducing church debt.
What can we accomplish with the Destiny Project?
The Destiny Project is specifically designed to engage our congregation in local and world missions projects that expand our impact for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Everything Westside does—both locally and around the world—is missional. The Destiny Project will help us take our next step to fulfilling our God given purpose in this world.
How does the Destiny Project work?
All the funds given to the Destiny Project will be applied to ministry projects in four sequential phases. Once the first phase is satisfied, the next will be funded, and so on. The more that we give together, the more phases we will be able to accomplish together.
What are the Destiny Project’s four phases?
Phase One: Local ministry—$900,000
This first phase funds our existing facility’s mortgage that enables all
Westside ministries to reach local families every day of the week.
Phase Two: world Mission—$200,000
This phase will build four children’s homes in our partner locations providing housing and care for over 250 orphans:
- Grace House Children’s Home in Pua Thailand: Saman and Nok Jantawong direct this children’s home dedicated to providing life in a Christ-centered environment to Hmong Tribal village children.
- New Life Annex in Chaing Mai, Thailand: David & Joyce Moore opened the annex next door to Abba House in Chiang Mai. The home provides emergency care, housing, love and life skills to young girls and boys being rescued off the streets from the “red light” industry.
- Orphan Care Center in Transkei, South Africa: The orphan care center provides a safe Christ-centered environment for AIDS orphans within their home village in the region of Transkei. A local “mama” takes these little ones under her wing and offers hope and love.
- New Life Children’s Home in Visak District, India: Raja & Neelima Pallae direct this children’s home and school filled with children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and members of the “untouchable” caste.
Phase Three: children—$200,000
This phase will focus on Westside’s children’s ministry. Our existing children’s facilities are already maxed out during our prime-time services. This effort will focus on optimizing existing space, and preparing plans for future expansion.
Phase Four: debt reduction
All additional giving will be applied to reduce the balance on our church debt principle.
How can I participate?
- Please pray about how God will have you participate.
- Determine your contribution to this project. Please give to the Destiny Project above and beyond your normal regular giving.
- Fill out your commitment card, then listen for stories of the lives you helped to transform.
Thank you for your prayerful and generous participation to the Destiny Project. If every family does their part, we will have everything needed to accomplish these focused efforts to share the love of God in our community and our world.
When we celebrate a year from now you will be able to say, “I was a part of the amazing miracles that God accomplished!” And we’ll give all the glory to Jesus!
